Economical Car Rental in Ireland

contributed by Colm Brady

Finding economical car rental in Ireland is not difficult. For less than €100 you should be able to rent a small car that is in excellent condition for a week. In this article we give you some tips to help you find the best discount car rental deals in Ireland.

The cost of car rental can vary significantly from season to season. Not surprisingly it is most expensive during peak season, from May to September. However, you can cut your car rental costs if you book early, and you will have a better choice of vehicles to choose from. Also, many car rental agencies offer discounts if you book on their website.

However, before you pay out for any deal there are a few things you should do. Read the small print carefully to find out what is, or isn't, included in the deal. Collision Damage Waiver should be included in the quoted price, and check to see if you will need to pay extra for personal insurance and contents insurance if you need it.

Also check to see if you will need to pay an excess in the case of an accident. Excesses can often be as high as a few thousand Euro and you may have to pay extra if you want to reduce this.

You should know exactly what you want when you are booking. Make sure that you are in the right age group to hire a car from this company. Also, if you are traveling with a family you may have to pay extra for child seats.

Other possible charges to watch out for are extra fees if you plan to drive between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland; mileage limits; and airport fees.

Take all of these into account before you pay and you should have no problem finding economical car rental in Ireland.
